Georgia Youth Ballets ninth annual production of The Nutcracker will give new meaning to the phrase under foot. An impressively large and picturesque lady, Mother Ginger, sporting an equally impressive sized dress, will wander onstage in search of her brood, whicvh appear from underneath her skirts to greet the crowd.
The dozen Pollichenelles who come out from their Mothers garments are among the more than 100 young men and women, ages 6 through 24, from eight metrto counties who will entertain audiences this december at Coweta Countys new Centre for the Performing and Visual Arts in Newnan.
Its always a stretch to cast Mother Ginger, no pun intended, said GYB artistic director Magdelena Maury. This year were using a marine and a police officer!
GYBs Nutcracker will be performed on December 4 and 11 at the Coweta Count Centre for the Performing and Visual Arts in Newnan, and GYBs will be the premier Nutcracker performed at this new centre.
