The Brooks Womens Club is starting a new Christmas tradition this year with a tour of homes for the holidays. Beginning at Brooks Christian Church, where tickets for the tour are available, the church itself is the first structure to be featured. Diana Crain, vice president of the Brooks Womens Club, part of the Georgia Federated Womens Club since 1921, said the home tour is replacing Brooks Day as their premiere fundraiser.
Brooks Day was too time consuming and we had a lack of volunteers to help with the event, she said.
Proceeds from the tour of homes will go to help Talulah Falls School in Talulah Falls Gorge, Georgia. In addition the non-profit club plants trees in town and Evans Park and takes care of the Veterans Memorial. They are also involved in the Adopt-a-Mile program.
Signs on the roadways will lead to the other four houses on the tour which include a Colonial Williamsburg style home, a Texas ranch-style home, a French Manor style home, and a 110- year old Victorian home. Hostesses in each house will guide visitors through the home and answer questions. A brochure outlining the tour will also be available at the church.
Hot tea, cider and other refreshments will be served at the church and throughout the tour.
The tour is from 2 -5 p.m. Tickets are $8 per person.
