Greek Orthodox Mission celebrates first anniversary, announces activities

The Greek Orthodox Mission of Peachtree City celebrated its first anniversary in October with a cookout/covered dish luncheon and prayer service. Approximately 60 families are now members of the mission, which meets weekly in Peachtree City for Sunday Orthros at 8 a.m. and Divine Liturgy at 9 a.m., the Very Rev. Fr. George Tsahakis, officiating.

Two parishioners were honored recently by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese for their unfaltering support of the mission. The recipients of the Archangel Michael Award were Dina Kearns, adult honoree, and Thanos Skouteris, Youth Honoree.

Special Thanksgiving services were held Wednesday, Nov. 24. Parishioners are continuing their collection of canned goods and toys for the St. Johns Fishes and Loaves program and the Fayette Samaritans.

Christmas fasting began Thursday, Nov. 15 and continues through Dec. 24. All members are invited to a Christmas program and Lenten luncheon on Sunday, Dec. 19 following the Divine Liturgy.
