Weddings, Engagements, AnniversariesSerck-Thurber Mr. and Mrs. Charles Flynn and Kenneth Serck of Nashville, Tenn., announce the engagement of their daughter, Kathleen Erin Serck, to Lt.. Anthony Matthew Thurber, USAF, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Thurber of Fayetteville. The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mrs. Emily Burrus and the late Dr. William C. Burrus of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Mrs. Maxine Serck and the late Earl Serck of Arizona. She is a 2001 graduate of Harpeth Hall School in Nashville and is a senior at the University of South Carolina, studying public relations. She is a member of the United States Air Force ROTC program and will attend pilot training after graduation. The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stevens of Newnan and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Thurber of Metairie, La. He is a 2000 graduate of Starrs Mill High School in Fayetteville and a 2004 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy with a B.S. in mechanical engineering. He currently is stationed at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina, and will attend pilot training at Columbus Air Force Base in May, 2005. The wedding will be Dec. 27, 2004, at 6 p.m., at Calvary Methodist Church in Nashville. After a honeymoon trip to the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Columbia, S.C. Howell Anniversary James and Jewell Howell of Fayetteville celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary Nov. 2, 2004, with members of their family. Mr. and Mrs. Howell were married Nov. 2, 1949, in Atlanta. They have four daughters, four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. |
