The Georgia Association of Elementary School Principals has named Spring Hill Elementarys Michael Howell Georgias Distinguished Principal for District 6.
Howell received the award earlier this month at the annual GAESP fall conference at Sea Palms Resort on St. Simons Island.
The Georgia Distinguished Principal recognition program was established in 1996 by GAESP. To be eligible for the award, a principal must:
Be respected by students, colleagues, parents and the community at large.
Demonstrate commitment and service to the community.
Exhibit strong leadership skills and set high expectations.
Demonstrate outstanding contributions to the well being of the educational community.
Show commitment to excellence by offering programs designed to met the academic and social needs of students and staff.
Howell has been with the Fayette County School System for more than 10 years and has served as principal of Spring Hill for six years. He has been an educator for over 30 years.
