Bird walk scheduled for Nov. 20Join Fayette County nature lovers on a fun and informative Bird Walk on Saturday, Nov. 20 in Peachtree City. Expert bird caller David Cree will lead the guided walk beginning at the boat ramp at the end of Battery Way in Peachtree City. Many species that over-winter in our area are arriving now. SCT invites participants to bring binoculars and meet at the boat ramp at the end of Battery Way, off Peachtree Parkway south of Ga. Highway 54. The walk starts at 8:30 am Nov. 20. This event is hosted by Southern Conservation Trust and is one of a series of educational programs focusing on local nature and conservation issues. On Jan. 13 a speaker from the Georgia Hummer Study Group will talk about attracting and feeding hummingbirds and their findings about migration and species wintering here. Southern Conservation Trust is a Peachtree City-based nonprofit that owns and manages over 600 acres of environmentally sensitive land in Fayette County. As a regional land trust SCT also works with willing landowners to protect natural areas through conservation options that may provide tax advantages for the landowner. For more information on this and upcoming SCT programs, call 770-486-7774, email info@sctlandtrust.org or visit the website www.sctlandtrust.org. |
