Holiday program tomorrow at the Fred

The public is invited to attend a special citywide kickoff to the Holiday season this Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at the Frederick Brown, Jr. Amphitheater in Peachtree City. The program, “Christmas at the Fred,” organized by Kevin Haglund, Director of Worship Programming at Braelinn Church in Peachtree City, will include a variety of holiday music, dance and drama.

“We just could not let Christmas go by without a citywide effort to celebrate the holiday,” stated Peachtree City Mayor Steve Brown.

When Mayor Brown learned that The Avenue shopping center was no longer able to accommodate the city’s annual Christmas celebration, he rejected the thought of not having a local event to commemorate one of our most important holidays.

”Christmas at the Fred” is in lieu of the annual Lighting of the Peace Tree that in past years has been held at either City Hall or The Avenue shopping center in Peachtree City. This year’s event is sponsored by Wal-Mart, Frank Cawood and Associates, and Braelinn Church.

“This event will be a time when we can all count our blessings with our children and grandparents as we enter the holiday season with an uplifting celebration,” stated Brown.

Since the event is centrally located, it will be an ideal time to decorate the golf cart, bundle up the kids and join in the festivities. Hot chocolate and other holiday snacks will be available for purchase at The Fred. Attendees can also bring their own warm drinks and other refreshments into the amphitheater. This is a non-alcohol, family event.

Participants in this year’s event include: Halo, a contemporary Christian band; Angela Barnes, grand prize vocalist at the 16th Annual Babbie Mason Music Conference International; the McIntosh High School Instrumental Ensemble and Drum Corps; Braelinn Players Drama Team; Georgia Academy of Dance; and the Braelinn Church Celebration Choir.
