Monday's agreement could herald more growthBy JOHN THOMPSON A called meeting of the Senoia City Council Monday night could end up spawning a new era in the city's history. Representatives from Scarbrough and Rolader Development and the city will meet at 7 p.m. at City Hall to try and hammer out an agreement for the development of 750 acres in the Twin Lakes subdivision on Rockaway Road. If approved, 663 homes will eventually be built on half-acre lots. The development would also feature amenities including a swimming pool, tennis courts and nature paths. This is the latest proposal for the most star-crossed of Senoia's subdivisions. The property was originally envisioned as a planned unit development that would feature its own retail area and school, but then-developer Amir Virani fell into financial hardship. Since then, other developers have tried to jumpstart building on the land. As part of the latest agreement, the developer pledges to deed a 200-foot-square site on the land for a city water tank, along with well sites on the property. Additionally, the developer would deed a 150-feet buffer around Hutchinson's Lake. If approved, the development would have two phases. In Phase 1, 381 homes would be developed, with the remaining homes built in Phase 2. |
