Johnson named ACC Rookie of Week againBy MICHAEL BOYLAN
In college football last week, a number of graduates from Fayette County schools performed well. Drew Cofty (Starrs Mill) ran for 90 yards and a touchdown in McKendree Colleges win over Trinity International. He is the third running back in the schools history to rush for over 2,000 yards. He curently has 2,017 yards. John Deraney (Fayette County) kicked a 28 yard field goal and an extra point in NC States 17-10 loss to Florida State. Matt Fuhrman (Starrs Mill) had two solo tackles, an assist, 1.5 tackles for a loss including a five yard sack and a quarterback hurry in the Merchant Marine Academys 16-7 win over the Coast Guard. Kedric Golston (Sandy Creek) had one solo tackle and three assists in Georgias 24-6 loss to Auburn. Reuben Houston (Starrs Mill) had three solo tackles and an assist in Georgia Techs 30-10 win over the University of Connecticut. Chris James (Starrs Mill) kicked six extra points and a career-long 44 yard field goal in Western Kentuckys 45-3 win over Western Illinois. Calvin Johnson (Sandy Creek) had six catches for 131 yards in Georgia Techs 30-10 win over the University of Connecticut. Will Judson (Sandy Creek) Riley Swanson (Sandy Creek) had six tackles and a broken up pass in Wake Forests 31-24 loss to the University of North Carolina.
