Key’s ‘Cotton Patch Gospel’ is this weekend

A two-act play, “The Cotton Patch Gospel,” will be held Friday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m. at Starr’s Mill High School as a benefit for Wellspring of Living Water, Inc., an outreach ministry for women in troubled circumstances. The event is sponsored by First Baptist Church of Peachtree City. A dessert buffet will be served.

The play will be presented by its original cast of one, Tom Key, known for his award-winning performances from off-Broadway to Los Angeles. Key coauthored the play along with the late singer-songwriter, Harry Chapin. The play, about the life of Christ, is based on the book of Clarence Jordan, a Georgian.

Tickets are $20 and may be purchased on the Wellspring Web site (www.wellspringoflivingwater.org), at most local churches, and at the Wellspring Store in the Publix Peachtree East shopping center on Ga. Hwy. 54 in Peachtree City.

The Wellspring mission is to reach out to women who are trapped in a lifestyle of substance abuse or who have suffered degrading and/or hopeless circumstances, and to provide a transition home where they can start over and build a bridge into a healthy lifestyle.
