CCSU to host conference on agingThe Living Long ... Living Well: Perspectives on Healthy Aging Conference will be held at Clayton State Friday, Nov. 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Harry S. Downs Center for Continuing Education. The conference is a combination of research and current issues pertaining to healthcare and the elderly. Participants discuss the nurses role in educating the geriatric population, social issues affecting members of the geriatric population, issues that impact older caregivers, cultural considerations that are necessary when caring for older adults, and community-wide programs that are available for geriatric clients. We can all learn something from this, since we all are aging, noted Clayton State Instructor of Nursing Victoria Foster. Sponsored by Clayton States Xi Rho and Georgia Baptists Pi Gamma chapters of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the gerontology conference will host an array of speakers, including Clayton State Associate Dean for Nursing Dr. Deborah Clark. Participants can register for $35 by contacting Rhonda McLain at 770-960-2084. Retired nurses and student registration is $15. |
