The Famous Fish Company will be diving into downtown Fayetteville this spring.
The restaurant, which already has a bustling location in Peachtree City, will be located on the square in a newly-renovated building that has been partially completed and stalled for months over a lawsuit.
Mike Faulkner, owner of the property, said Famous Fish architects have to complete designing the interior, which will include a full bar separate from other seating and a wine wall.
The building has been undergoing a renovation, which was stalled over a year by a lawsuit over property located at the rear. Faulkner said he won the suit and an outdoor patio will be built at the rear of the property.
Faulkner said he wanted to sign a restaurant that wouldnt compete against the nearby City Cafe, and he also wanted to avoid a chain restaurant.
I wanted something that was chef-cooked, Faulkner said, adding that he also wanted a place where patrons could customize their order.
Faulkner hopes restaurant patrons will walk to and from the citys amphitheater.
We want to make it a cozy, nice place, Faulkner said.
The only major hurdle to clear other than finalizing the interior design is getting the kitchen approved by the city and the health department, Faulkner said.
Faulkner also took advantage of a program offered by the Fayetteville Downtown Development Authority for facade renovation: a matching grant of up to $5,000. The only difficult part was getting three bids for the work, he said, because he was performing the renovations himself.
