If you are looking for something new for dinner, try an old favorite in Peachtree City. Ginza Steak & Sushi has been serving up delicious authentic Japanese food in a fun atmosphere for over 16 years, and the restaurant keeps getting better.
For those who have never visited Ginza Steak & Sushi, in the Braelinn Village shopping center, the experience is well worth the trip. Bring your family and take a seat at the Habachi grill, where your food is prepared before your eyes by talented and entertaining chefs. They will put on a cooking show, including flaming volcanos and shrimp that fly right into your mouth.
"We are the only Habachi grill in Peachtree City," said Charlie Lee, who works in the restaurant along with his father and owner of the establishment, Silvestel Lee. "Seventy percent of our customers eat at the Habachi grill. It is a great place to come with family and friends to relax and enjoy the good food. Everyone has a lot of fun here."
Favorite dishes at the grill include Filet Mignon and shrimp combinations. Teriyaki steak and chicken are also available, as well as vegetarian meals. Prices range from $11.95 to $20.95, and include appetizer shrimp, house soup, salad with special Japanese dressing, steamed rice and vegetables, ensuring that no one leaves the restaurant still hungry.
For more private meals, Ginza Steak & Sushi offers a Tatami room, excellent for meetings or diners wanting a more private dining experience. Tatami is a thick, firm mattress to cover the Japanese-style room floor, and customers sit on the floor at a low table, making for an authentic Japanese dining experience. The room can hold from six to 32 people, and reservations are recommended.
There are daily lunch specials, each only $6.95 and prepared in time for you to get back to work, making it an excellent choice for people in a hurry. The special changes every day, so call the restaurant to find out what is being offered. The restaurant also boasts a full sushi bar and a sushi chef with over 38 years of experience. Take a seat at the bar and watch the menu items being made before your eyes. The menu ranges from traditional sushi pieces to special rolls. Be sure to visit during sushi happy hour, when each piece is only one dollar, Monday through Wednesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Charlie Lee says his favorite is Sushi Deluxe, which is not too basic and not too extreme. "It is a good combination that most people would enjoy, nothing too exotic but nothing too basic. We have an excellent selection, with more to offer than other restaurants in the area." Sushi Deluxe is $16.95 and includes eight pieces of sushi and a tuna roll.
Traditional Japanese cooking is something emphasized at Ginza Steak & Sushi. "We stay traditional, not trendy or Americanized," Charlie Lee said. "The traditional way takes more time, but it is better. Everything in our restaurant is fresh, nothing frozen, and prepared in the traditional way. With us, quality is number one."
Since opening, Ginza Steak & Sushi has made an impression on diners, some who have been regular customers for 16 years. Silvestel Lee, the restaurant's owner, has been watching these customers, some of them children, grow and bring their own children in for birthday parties and events. He is also very proud that his restaurant once hosted former President Jimmy Carter, who said the food was some of the best and most authentic that he had enjoyed in a long time.
The restaurant's Web site, www.ginzarestaurant.com, is worth visiting to view the full menu, including sushi menu, and coupons that can be printed. These include a birthday coupon, entitling the birthday guest to a free dinner of up to $12.95 with parties of six or more, and an early bird special for 15 percent off an entree from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The Web site also offers directions to the restaurant and online reservations.
