It was an ordinary autumn day for Senoias Pat Thompson.
But just after 2 p.m. Oct.27, the tranquility was shattered as at least four gunshots hit her house. One shattered her dining room window, while three hit the exterior of her Main Street home.
The incident has galvanized the residents of this quiet eastern Coweta town. During last weeks City Council meeting, residents packed Town Hall to express their outrage.
I am so happy that our city is working together on this. This really gives me a good feeling, said Police Chief Ollita Bennett.
The city decided to start a reward fund for information leading to the arrest of whoever did the deed. While the city was limited to only spending $300 of taxpayers money, residents were more than eager to help out.
The reward fund has now grown to $1,700 after several residents pledged their financial support.
Weve got a couple of leads, and were hoping to make an arrest soon, Bennett said.
Mayor Bob Hannah thanked the residents for getting involved in the process, and said it shows that people believe in his vision of not on my street, not in my town.
Residents who have information about the incident should contact the Senoia Police Department at 770-599-3256.
