The spirit of Noel November is still going strong in its tenth year.
This Celebration of Trees and Wreaths and Ten Years of Giving Back to the Community is the Fayette County Board of Realtors premiere event and delights attendees of all ages with a winter wonderland of favored theme trees, wreaths, mantle arrangements, decorations and Christmas collectibles.
This years event is Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Kiwanis Fairgrounds off Goza Road in Fayetteville. The public is welcome to attend.
In honor of the tenth anniversary, a new logo was created along with a Christopher Radko ornament to commemorate the event. This holiday event began in 1994 with less than 10 trees and 20 participants; today Noel November enjoys close to 100 auction items and more than 300 attendees.
The day-long celebration begins with an open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. where families can stroll the wintry path through the trees and wreaths admiring the handi-work of local citizens, companies and organizations whove donated their creations to the event. A new addition to the day will be the Ornament Shop where the Christopher Radko ornament and a commemorate logo ornament can be purchased before the evening auction. Also on hand are the local choral groups from around the county, holiday childrens crafts and photos with Santa.
Festivities culminate with a live auction beginning at 7:30 p.m. when the lights are dimmed and the bidding begins. The beautifully decorated and donated items are then sold one at a time to the highest bidder. The excitement is great as the crowd cheers on the bidders. Its an opportunity to also enjoy good food, donated by area restaurants and grocers, as well as purchase that one of a kind Christmas decoration. Hundreds of area residents enjoy this event each year.
Noel November is an annual highlight of the holiday season in our community, and its also provided needed funds for worthy local organizations. This years net proceeds will benefit the Fayette Youth Protection Home, Promise Place (formerly the Fayette County Council on Domestic Violence), Fayette County Special Olympics, Fayette Family YMCA and the Joseph Sams School. In years past, thousands of dollars have been donated to county organizations from this event.
