Tennis center nets three state awards

The Peachtree City Tennis Center’s “Welcome Back to Tennis” event has been selected by USTA Georgia (GTA) as the recipient of the 2004 Special Tennis Event of the Year Award. Additionally, USTA Georgia has nominated this event for the USTA Southern Section Special Tennis Event of the Year.  

This event, held July 10, welcomed back tennis players ages 50 and up with fun, food, drinks, tennis activities, door prizes and giveaways. Many participants have continued to play the game and now a new 2.5 Senior Women's League is being formed through the Southern Crescent Tennis Association.  

Tennis Center members Alicia and Louis Acuna, along with their children Gabriela and Adriana, have been honored with the 2004 Family of the Year Award. Alicia has volunteered countless hours serving as the Mixed League Coordinator for the Southern Crescent Tennis League and both Alicia and Louis serve on the Multi-Cultural Committee for USTA Georgia. The entire family volunteered their time at the Hispanic Tennis Festival and many more state and local events. All are avid tennis players and a great asset to the game of tennis.

Link Leskosky has been chosen as the recipient of the 2004 Junior Female Player of the Year. Leskosky is currently training in the High Performance Academy program at the Peachtree City Tennis Center and has been a great example to others of what hard work and dedication can accomplish. Not only does she have an exceptional tournament record but she won the Sportsmanship Award at the 18’s Southern Closed in Little Rock, Ark. Leskosky played Junior Fed Cup in San Francisco and also represented Georgia in the Junior Fed Cup in Chattanooga. She has committed and will be continuing her tennis career as a "Dawg" at the University of Georgia.
