State Supt. recognizes Fulton for end of course testing

Fifteen Fulton middle and high schools were recognized by the State Superintendent of Schools Kathy Cox for high achievement on the state’s End-of-Course Tests (EOCT) given during the 2003-04 school year.

A part of the state standardized testing program, the EOCTs assess students’ knowledge and understanding of the state curriculum in core courses. The exams cover eight content areas – ninth grade literature and composition, American literature and composition, algebra I, geometry, biology, physical science, U.S. history, and economics/business/free enterprise. Beginning this year, the EOCT serves as the final exam for each course and counts as 15 percent of the student’s final grade.

In Fulton County, 11 middle schools – Autrey Mill, Crabapple, Elkins Pointe, Haynes Bridge, Northwestern, Ridgeview, River Trail, Sandy Springs, Taylor Road, Webb Bridge, and the Fulton Science Academy – were cited for exceptional performance, with 100% of students meeting or exceeding standards of EOCT subjects. Four high schools – Centennial, Milton Northview, and the former Fulton County Math/Science Charter – also received commendations for scoring within the Top 10 statewide on EOCT content areas
