Peeples dedicates sculptureA 15-foot steel sculpture was recently installed in front of Peeples Elementary School in Fayetteville. It was a gift from the first Peeples Elementary class to complete all six grades at the school, from kindergarten to fifth grade. The now permanent sculpture was designed to represent the schools nickname, the Rockets. The sleek, modern design was the brainchild of parent Susan Armagost and the schools art teacher, Lucy Wicker. The design was brought to fruition by artisans from No Mas Productions of Atlanta. The sculpture is a way for this charter class to leave a permanent symbol of the excellent foundation the school provided to them and all its students. remarked Mrs. Armagost. Charter and current principal Sandra Watson was a speaker at the event. Also in attendance was former charter assistant principal Doe Evans, now principal of Crabapple Lane School. Many former and current students, parents, and faculty members were on hand for the ceremony. Former student Dillon Roseen was given the honor of dedicating the sculpture. Dillon shared a few memories about the school and said, We, as a class, chose the school logo, a rocket, because it represents the launching of our formal education with the hope that we will continue to soar to new heights. The sculpture was made possible through donations from members of the charter class and their families. |
