Three
Fayette high school bands to compete in LaFayette Classic
Bands from three Fayette County high schools will be among those
competing this weekend when the 23rd Annual LaFayette Marching
Classic returns to Fayette County High Schools Tiger Stadium.
Starrs Mill, Sandy Creek and Whitewater high school bands
will all be performing their halftime shows in the competition,
which has been hosted by the Fayette County High Band Booster
association since 1981.
Other bands scheduled to appear include those from Harris County,
Paulding County, North Cobb and Brookwood high schools.
As host band for the event, the Marching Tigers wont compete
for awards, but they will put on a special exhibition performance
of their 2004 show, Car Tunes, at the conclusion
of the contest on Saturday night.
The event begins at 2 p.m. Saturday with preliminary performances.
The top eight scoring bands from the afternoon will perform again
Saturday night in the LaFayette Classic Marching Championships.
The winning band will be awarded the Grand Championship Trophy.
A full range of food items and souvnenirs will be for sale throughout
the day as well.
