Hear ye, good sirs and gentle ladies in search of a great night
for thou to get away from thine everyday, ponder no more. Come
join the merry folk of yore and dine like royalty.
Wassail! Wassail! The Sandy Creek High School Chorus and Drama
Department along with the Fayette Youth Chorale will present
three nights of heraldry, food, pageantry, acts, and songs as
directors Millie Turek and Kathy Andersen proudly present the
third annual Madrigal Dinners October 28, 29, & 30, at the
First Christian Church of Tyrone. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and
the processional to transport you back to merry olde 15th century
England begins at 7 p.m. each night.
What is a Madrigal you ask? Its a dinner theater, a play,
a concert, and a harvest festival, all wrapped in one two-hour
event. In fact, the performance is a meal, and the meal is the
performance!
When the doors open at 6:30 p.m., the Town Criers will begin
announcing the guests as they enter. After all are seated good
and proper, the evening continues. with a full-cast processional
at 7 p.m. followed by a wassail toast. Then its on with
the soup, the main course, and dessert service, all catered by
Malones.
During the meal, strolling players and singers entertain the
guests. There is a goodly chance of a visit from Professor Tripe
or the Royal Insulters. Kate the Acting Instructor, the Spork
Sisters, a Dragon Trainer, and the Pepper Mill Maids mayhaps
come by ye. All performers will be costumed and speaking in British
dialects.
After the meal, the Royal Court will present a short comedy
in which Robin Hood, the town crier, the jester, and four knights
attempt to solve the Queens political problems. Following
the Play, the Advanced Mixed Chorus and the Fayette Youth Chorale
will sing. The production is wrapped up with a grand recessional
which will lead you back to thine own time.
