Counterpane students visit Atlanta Botanical GardenThe Atlanta Botanical Garden was the meeting place for Counterpane families and teachers, extending classroom studies through hands-on examination of leaves, plants with parallel veins, aerial roots, complete and incomplete flowers, etc. Counterpanes science curriculum, pre-school through high school, includes botanical nomenclature and species identification with increasing complexity. On campus, Counterpane the students reinforce the concepts through detailed drawings and organic gardening. At Atlantas Botanical Garden, a scavenger hunt to find plants with special characteristics was the highlight of the day, with students teaching their parents as teachers enjoyed the fruit of their efforts. As Counterpane parent Sherry Williams related, Mandel and I both enjoyed interacting as we worked on the scavenger hunt, but above all was the fun we had learning and exploring together.
