Fund started for fireman battling tumorBy JOHN MUNFORD
A fund has been established to help a Fayette County Firefighter/EMT who has been unable to work while battling a malignant brain tumor. Joshua Warren is unable to work or drive and takes medication for severe headaches. He also cannot stand for long periods of time. In addition to chemotherapy, Warren will go out of state for specialized treatment and definitive care for the tumor. Warren, who has a 3-year-old daughter, is near the end of his sick leave that keeps him employed and insured. He can continue receiving insurance benefits at his own expense. Donations can be made to the Joshua Warren Assistance Fund at any Wachovia Bank. Firefighters will hold a series of fund-raisers to help Warren offset his medical expenses. Already in the works is a pool tournament at the Classic Cue in Fayetteville. Josh has always been an excellent employee and cared greatly for citizens of Fayette County as a dedicated and compassionate firefighter/EMT, said Director of Public Safety Jack Krakeel. Warrens condition was diagnosed after he collapsed while reporting to his fire station for duty in August.
