The Peachtree United Methodist Church is auditioning adult actors
for regular, recurring roles in its new Wednesday night family
worship service, Godstuf. The church is looking for
twelve talented actors, males and females at least 16 years old,
to participate in the drama portion of Godstuf, an
exciting multimedia worship service aimed at elementary school
age children and their families. Most actors will appear once
or twice a month on Wednesday evenings between January and May,
2005. The schedule will pick up again in the fall of 2005. Actors
need not be members of the church to participate. It is anticipated
that rehearsals will be held Wednesday evenings before the show
in which a character appears.
The skits are prepared from scripts written by the creative
team at North Point Community Church in Alpharetta. The characters
are generally comedic and a number of them are children who will
be acted by adults. Recurring characters include a bullt who
writes poetry, a narcissistic cheerleader, a comic book hero-worshipper,
male and female science nerds, a New Yorker, a surfer guy, and
others. The characters interact to face real-life problems that
children and adults can relate to, and evewry month hghlights
a new virtue for examination.
Auditions will be held in the sanctuary at the Robinson Road
campus of the church on Sunday, October 24, at 225 Robinson Road,
Peachtree City. No singing is required. Prepared monologues of
two minutes or less are welcome but not required. Actors presentations
should appeal to both children and adults. An engaging and appealing
personality, a person who can create empathy for his or her character,
and a strong, distinct, and clear speaking voice are the main
criteria. For an audition appointment or for more information,
