Locals prepare to run in region championships after Last Chance InvitationalThe county championships took place at Sandy Creek High School last Tuesday. McIntoshs girls and Starrs Mills boys won the titles and full results can be found in last Fridays edition of the Peachtree Citizen Review or at www.gatfxc.com. Over the weekend a number of teams competed at the Last Chance Invitational in Carrollton. Fayette Countys boys placed 12th in the AAAAA race. Their top five runners were: Nathaniel Foster, 27, 17:22 Eric Birdsong, 41, 17:48 Michael Blankenbeker, 54, 18:08 Ryan Kennedy, 102, 19:06 Brad Phillips, 130, 19:46 Fayette Countys girls placed 12th. Their top five were: Claire Bergstrom, 33, 21:47 Caitlin Alverson, 63, 23:22 Nia Chau, 87, 24:34 Michelle Bangsboll, 89, 24:54 Rebecca Kollmeyer, 93, 25:39 McIntoshs boys placed third in the AAAA race of the Carrollton Last Chance Invitational. Their top five runners were: Michael Mateos, 7, 17:16 Derek Hossbach, 26, 18:15 Matt Troxel, 32, 18:32 Brenden Leonard, 38, 18:41 Nathan Thompson, 45, 18:52 McIntoshs girls placed second. Thier top five were: Emily Borsare, 1, 18:35 Olivia Tucker, 15, 20:52 Melissa Anderson, 20, 21:13 Rebecca Stokes, 28, 21:32 Erica Hughey, 29, 21:40 Landmark Christian placed third in the A/AA race of the Last Chance Invitational. Their top five runners were: Will Bonn, 1, 16:24 Michael Leonard, 9, 17:32 Chad Thames, 11, 17:37 Zach Speir, 26, 18:19 Brad Eisenburg, 39, 18:58 Landmarks girls placed second. Their top five were: Sarah Blanton, 1, 19:38 Caroline Jones, 4, 20:53 Kaity Bulger, 17, 22:07 Kassi Deel, 25, 23:08 Jessie Thames, 46, 24:06 Our Lady of Mercys boys placed seventh. Their top five were: Pat Super, 21, 18:11 Ryan Schilling, 25, 18:18 Brett Lewis, 30, 18:26 Brad Eisenburg, 39, 18:58 Zach Lethbridge, 46, 19:18 Our Lady of Mercys girls placed sixth. Their top five were: Samantha Jumper, 23, 23:07 Savini Santha, 29, 23:19 Marina Fleming, 33, 23:37 Kelsey Oberst, 49, 24:23 Lindsay Oberst, 70, 26:32 This Saturday, Fayette County and Starrs Mill will race in the Region 4-AAAAA Championship at 1 p.m. at Sandy Creek High School, while McIntosh and Sandy Creek will race in the Region 4-AAAA Championship at 9 a.m. at the McIntosh Preserve in Sharpsburg. Our Lady of Mercy will host the Region 5-A meet and Landmark Christian will be particpating in that race as well.
