Hopewell UMC will hold fall festival for missions SaturdayHopewell United Methodist Church, on Jenkins Road in Tyrone, will have a Fall Festival to raise funds for the churchs mission outreach program and to help support the Fayette Samaritans. The festival will be Saturday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Activities will include games, a moon walk, crafts, face painting, and a concession stand. Pony rides will be offered from 2-4 p.m. and at 4:30 p.m. there will be a Pet Costume Contest. A Pumpkin Cook-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. Area cooks are encouraged to enter their best pumpkin recipes in this old fashioned contest. To enter bring entries, along with a copy of the recipe, to the church pavilion by 2:30 p.m. Following the awards ceremony, the items will be sold for $1 per serving and all proceeds will be donated to Hopewells mission projects. Hopewells Youth Group will hold their annual Trunk-of-Treats event at 6 p.m. The community is invited to come and see the decorated car trunks and pick up a sweet or two along the way. At 7:30 p.m. there will be a Costume Contest for children, followed at 8 p.m. by a concert from The Prodigal, an Emmaus group band.
