NAACP Freedom Banquet set for Oct. 30The Fayette County Branch, NAACP is hosting its 7th Annual Freedom Banquet Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Georgia International Convention Center. The evening will begin with a reception at 6 p.m. and the banquet begins at 7 p.m. The theme is "Segregation to Integration, Where Are We Now" with a platform of panelist to discuss the promise and progress made since Brown vs Board of Education. Invited panelists are relatives of claimants involved in the litigation that led to the landmark Brown vs Board of Education Supreme Court decision in 1954. Other panelists were involved in school integration with Dr. Barbara Pulliam, Clayton County Superintendent of Education, to serve as moderator. The mistress of ceremonies is Lorraine Jacques-White of Power Talk Radio, 1380 AM and Lisa Rayam of Fox 5 TV is songstress for the evening. The Georgia International Convention Center is located at 2000 Convention Center Concourse in College Park. Proceeds from this fundraiser will help to provide scholarships for deserving students enrolled in institutions of higher learning. The public is cordially invited to attend.
