Kerry rally Sat. in FayettevilleFayette for Kerry will be hosting a pre-election rally Saturday, Oct. 23, from 4-6 p.m. at McCurry Park in Fayetteville in support of the Democratic presidential nominee, Sen. John F. Kerry. Fayette for Kerry, a grassroots campaign organization with over 80 volunteers, has been actively campaigning for Senator Kerry since the primary. Ive been absolutely thrilled with the outpouring of support that Senator Kerry has been receiving in Fayette County, commented Fayette for Kerry Director Karen Kilgo. The volunteers have been working tirelessly, and I firmly believe that their efforts will pay off on Nov. 2. I remember a time when people didnt believe that there were 80 Democrats in Fayette County, Kilgo continued, and now we have that number actively campaigning. She also commented that they have been deluged with requests for yard signs, bumper stickers, and buttons and can barely keep up with the demand for these items. Fayette for Kerry has invited all Democratic candidates and elected officials representing Fayette County to the rally, including U.S. Rep. Denise Majette (U.S. Senate candidate), Rep. David Scott, Lieutenant Governor Mark Taylor, Secretary of State Cathy Cox, Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond, Agricultural Commission Tommy Irvin, Attorney General Thurbert Baker, State Sen. Valencia Seay, State Rep. Virgil Fludd, State Rep. Darryl Jordan, Roberta Abdul-Salaam (House District #74 candidate), and Silvia Delamar (Congressional candidate for 8th District). In addition, Georgia Women for Kerry Representative Amy Morton, Democratic Party of Georgia Chairman Bobby Kahn, Young Democrats club members, and State Sen. Mary Squires have also been invited. A representative from the Kerry-Edwards campaign will be in attendance at the event. Fayette for Kerry invites everyone in the south metro area who is interested in Democratic politics and who supports the Kerry-Edwards campaign to attend. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own snacks or picnics, drinks, and lawn chairs or blankets. Fayette for Kerry meets weekly on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at Right on Thyme restaurant in Fayetteville.
