Truck fire pinned on man as arsonA College Park man was arrested last Wednesday for setting fire to a vehicle at a home on Inman Road several months ago, according to court documents. Willy James Staples Jr., 31, of 2437 Cheryl Lynn Lane, was charged with arson in the first degree for using a suspected flammable liquid that he threw into the bed of the truck before it caught fire, according to warrants for his arrest filed by Fayette County Fire Marshall David Scarbrough. The fire was started as Staples dropped a piece of paper that was lit on fire into the bed of the truck, the warrant stated. The warrant did not reveal a possible motivation for why Staples might have set the fire. Staples was granted a $15,000 bond after appearing in Fayette County Magistrate Court. John Munford
