Bad Links? | Teams heading to post-season play, seeking state tourney bidsThe regular season for high school volleyball is over and area tournaments are either underway or will be starting soon. Starrs Mill finished the season with four straight losses but are still the top seeded team in area 2-AAAAA. They hosted the opening round of the area tournament yesterday, which will continue this weekend. The Lady Panthers (36-8) fell to Marist, 25-7, 25-14; Wesleyan, 25-14, 25-20, Woodward Academy, 25-18, 25-23 and Sequoyah, 25-18, 25-23. McIntosh will host the opening round of the area 4-AAAA tournament next Tuesday at 5 p.m., before heading to Woodward Academy next Thursday at 5 p.m. The Lady Chiefs (24-11) have gone 3-1 in their last four games, defeating Lovett and Lovejoy Tuesday and then beating Peachtree Ridge, 25-15, 25-8 and losing to Wesleyan 25-18, 18-25, 20-25. McIntosh has a region record of 5-2 and will enter the tournament as a second seed behind Woodward (7-0) and ahead of Sandy Creek (4-2). Landmark Christian (22-14, 4-0 region) and Our Lady of Mercy (10-14, 1-2 region) will begin their area tournament play next Thursday at Lovett High School at 4 p.m. |
