Bad Links? | Campbellton Methodist plans gospel sing, country fair Oct. 23Campbellton United Methodist Church in Fairburn will have its annual Gospel on the Grass singing and country fair Saturday, Oct. 23, at the church on Fairburn Road (Ga. Hwy. 92) in South Fulton County. The event will feature a different gospel singing group each hour from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the lawn of the church. Among the groups will be Rock Solid Revival, The Kings Kids, Claude Walton, Tere Ayers and Charles Ramey. Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Other attractions will include rides and activities for children and well as food and goodies for people of all ages. Its an atmosphere reminiscent of an old-fashioned country fair, said Campbellton UMCs pastor, the Rev. John Jansen. And the best part is, its all free the music is free, lunch is free and all activities are free. This is the fourth straight year the church has presented the fall fun fling. It has grown significantly each year and has been a successful project of the churchs evangelism efforts. Campbellton UMC, near the Douglas County line on Ga. Hwy. 92 west of Fairburn (intersection of Cascade-Palmetto Highway and Hwy. 92), has been a part of the community for more than 170 years, since the time when Campbellton not Fairburn was the county seat. Jansen said, It is a community church rich in the history of the old Campbellton area and is most easily recognized as the little white church with the red doors next to Charlies convenience store. For more information on the fall event, contact Bill Wilson, 770-947-1970, or the Rev. John Jansen, 770-964-9083. |
