Bad Links? | CSX crossing closures begin TuesdayCSX will repair its three major rail crossings in Peachtree City starting next week, requiring temporary closings of three major streets and one path west of Ga. Highway 74. The railroad will replace the wooden ties beneath the tracks at its crossings over Paschall Road, Kelly Drive, and Dividend Drive. Other structural repairs will also be made, resulting in a ride that is a bit less bumpy over the tracks. The crossing at Paschall Road will be closed at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, and will reopen after 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13. Traffic from Hwy. 74 and Huddleston Road-Dividend Drive will not be able to cross the tracks during this period. Local commercial traffic up to the crossing will be accommodated. Kelly Drive and TDK Boulevard will be the alternate routes to the west side of the tracks. The street and path crossings at Kelly Drive will be closed at 6 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, and will reopen after 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15. Local traffic from Hwy. 74 and Dividend Drive will be accommodated up to the crossing but will not be able to cross the tracks during this period. Paschall Road and TDK Boulevard will be the alternate routes for automobiles to the west side of the tracks. There will be no golf cart traffic across the railroad tracks at this location for the full two-day period, affecting the residents of Planterra Ridge. The crossing at Dividend Drive will be closed at 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18, and will reopen after 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19. Traffic from Hwy. 74 and the north end of Dividend will not be able to cross the tracks during this period, but local commercial traffic will be accommodated. Paschall, Kelly, and TDK will be the alternate routes across the track. CSX has announced that the work will proceed rain or shine. Motorists, pedestrians, and golf cart operators will need to make alternate travel arrangements for the affected periods. The work in Peachtree City is the first phase of a CSX rail repair program that will extend all the way to Manchester. |
