Fayetteville keeps same millageBy JOHN MUNFORD
As predicted, the Fayetteville City Council decided to keep its millage rate the same for the coming fiscal year at a special called meeting Tuesday night. The motion to hold the millage had been made at a previous meeting, but that was before a glitch in the countys tax digest calculations was discovered at the tax commissioners office. All of the countys municipalities, the county commission and the school board were required to re-vote on their millage rates because of the snafu. The meeting was Tuesday because the last regularly scheduled council meeting was wiped out by heavy rains and winds from Hurricane Ivan. Council also unanimously approved a new alcohol serving license for OCharleys Restaurant, which is close to opening in the Fayette Pavilion. Also approved was a change in alcohol license representative for the Ruby Tuesdays restaurant. Because the previous regular council meeting was cancelled, a number of items were postponed and added to the next meeting date Thursday, Oct. 7.
