Homecoming at Newnan is tonightThe Newnan Cougars Go for the Gold through tonight to celebrate Newnan High Schools homecoming, and the community is invited to join in the celebration. The weeks activities culminate when the Cougars play Union Grove at Drake Stadium tonight at 7:30 p.m. At half-time, the homecoming queen will be crowned, and winners of the window painting, the door decorations, and the best float will be announced. The homecoming parade will wind through the streets of downtown Newnan the day of the game beginning at 4 p.m. near McKoons Funeral Home and ending at Newnan High School. The band, ROTC, and cheerleaders will participate, and each class will enter a float, hoping to be named the best in the parade. Store windows will be painted in downtown Newnan by different clubs from Newnan High School as the spirit of homecoming spreads into the community.Visitors to Newnan High School will see decorations on classroom doors cheering the Cougars on to victory. The Art Department held a T-shirt design contest for this years homecoming. Seth Duncan, senior at Newnan High, created the winning design. |
