Whitewater picks up two more region wins last weekBy MICHAEL BOYLAN The Whitewater Lady Wildcats softball team picked up two region wins last week to push their region record over .500. On Wednesday, Whitewater outlasted Villa Rica, winning 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning. Meg Holman reached the bases on an error and Tess Echols drove her in. On Thursday, the Lady Wildcats exploded, beating Creekside 17-0. In addition to Echols and Holman, who have batting averages of .378 and .302 respectively, Whitewater is also being led offensively by Lauren Moyer who has a.467 batting average. The team is also getting strong pitching performances from Danielle Dickson and Jill Keller. We are playing great softball at the moment, said Coach Stacey Smith, who is seeing her team handle good region competition. Whitewater is scheduled to take on Alexander and Haralson County this week.
