Local teams stay in running in last weekends big cross country meetsBy MICHAEL BOYLAN There were two major high school cross country meets last weekend and Fayette County teams performed very well. In the LaGrange Invitationals AAAA/AAAAA girls race, McIntosh placed third, while Starrs Mill placed fifth, Fayette County placed 14th and Sandy Creek placed 17th. McIntoshs top five runners were: Emily Borsare, 1, 18:58 Erica Hughey, 11, 20:53 Olivia Tucker, 26, 21:32 Melissa Anderson, 28, 21:38 Rebecca Stokes, 30, 21:39 Starrs Mills top five were: Kirsten Pretzer, 18, 21:08 Jesse Cort, 23, 21:14 Kristin Horton, 27, 21:34 Ginny Balckom, 31, 21:40 Kristin Olson, 33, 21:42 Fayette Countys top five were: Claire Bergstrom, 9, 20:40 Taylor Barnes, 60, 22:45 Caitlin Alverson, 67, 23:04 Michelle Bangsboll, 109, 24:39 Nia Chau, 117, 24:59 Sandy Creeks top five were: Christine Dunphy, 51, 22:25 Sara Harper, 92, 23:49 Kristin Smith, 102, 24:15 Angela Holcomb, 137, 26:38 Mary Spenser, 138, 26:38 In the AAAA/AAAAA boys race, Starrs Mill placed first, Fayette County placed sixth, McIntosh placed 11th and Sandy Creek placed 13th. Starrs Mills top five were: Bradley Morris, 1, 16:07 Austin Enriquez, 2, 16:27 Craig Hyatt, 6, 16:41 Daniel Shankle, 7, 16:42 Matthew Beeson, 103, 19:14 Fayette Countys top five were: Nathaniel Foster, 8, 16:49 Eric Birdsong, 14, 17:21 Michael Blankenbeker, 49, 18:20 David Zitelli, 65, 18:42 Brad Phillips, 124, 19:38 McIntoshs top five were: Michael Mateos, 9, 17:06 Matt Troxel, 74, 18:50 Nathan Thompson, 79, 18:53 Jesse Smith, 87, 19:01 Cormac Carolan-Tolbert, 89, 19:03 Sandy Creeks top five were: Andrew Henry, 19, 17:34 Matt Auers, 20, 17:35 Jason Veclotch, 100, 19:11 Matt Collins, 106, 19:18 Ian Buchanan, 117, 19:31 At the Patriot Invitational, the Landmark Christian School boys placed eighth in the championship race, while the Our Lady of Mercy boys placed 11th in the A/AA/AAA race. Landmarks girls placed fourth in the A/AA/AAA race, while Our lady of Mercys girls placed 12th. The top five runners for the Landmark boys were: Will Bonn, 5, 16:28 Chad Thames, 22, 17:43 Michael Leonard, 30, 18:11 Brett Lewis, 53, 18:45 Zach Speir, 69, 19:07 The top five runners for the Our Lady of Mercy boys were: Zach Lethbridge, 42, 19:27 Ryan Schilling, 46, 19:31 Matt Faber, 75, 20:21 Chris Jagstadt, 77, 20:22 Albert Jumper, 90, 20:42 The top five for the Landmark girls were: Sarah Blanton, 2, 21:06 Caroline Jones, 6, 21:42 Kaity Bulger, 35, 23:43 Kassi Deel, 58, 24:34 Jane Doe, 105, 26:32 The top five for Our Lady of Mercy were: Kelsey Oberst, 40, 23:52 Marina Fleming, 48, 24:12 Sam Jumper, 76, 25:09 Elizabeth Gagliann, 102, 26:29 Brittany Arrietta, 143, 28:28 The big cross-country meet this weekend will be the Alexander Invitational at the McIntosh Nature Preserve in Sharpsburg.
