Hopewells first Pumpkin Patch coming to TyroneThe Town of Tyrone will soon be the resting-place of hundreds of bright orange pumpkins as Hopewell United Methodist Church launches its first Pumpkin Patch project. The patch will be open Oct. 1-30 on the church grounds on Jenkins Rd., across from Sandy Creek High School. The patch will open at 11 a.m. on weekdays, 9 a.m. on Saturdays, and 1 p.m. on Sundays, and will close every day at dark. During the pumpkin sale, church members also will sell Indian corn, gourds made into birdhouses, and other decorative items of interest. The highlight of the month-long sale will be the Hopewell Fall Carnival scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 23 which will have a pumpkin theme. There will be a pumpkin carving contest, a pumpkin cook-off, and other pumpkin related activities. The Carnival also will feature the New Hope Baptist Church Clown Ministry, ponies, an air-filled jump room, storytelling, and numerous games for the children. The churchs annual Trunk-or-Treat event will also be held that night. More details will be available at a later date.
