The Citizen wins 1st place in NNA awardsIf you are a regular reader of The Citizen, it wont surprise you to learn that the papers Weekend section is one of the best in the country. Now, its official. Christine Holzmann, the Citizens design editor, was awarded first place for page design in the 2004 Better Newspaper contest sponsored by the National Newspaper Association. The award ceremony, held in Denver recently, honored excellence in community newspapers throughout the U.S. Holzmanns innovative design and page layout gives The Citizen its first national award. A Citizen staffer since 1997, Holzmann was born in the United States and was raised in South Africa. She first attended Sacred Heart College and then later the Johannesburg College of Education before returning to the states in 1996. She lives with her family in Peachtree City.
