Citys backstreet project nears completionFew more tweaks left to go Fayettevilles Backstreet project is almost complete and under budget. Then again, maybe a few extras will be coming thanks to the rosy budget picture for the project, said Main Street Director Nancy Price. The project focused on the area between the Holliday-Dorsey-Fife House and the businesses along Glynn Street. Brick pavers have been installed and the parking lot has been resurfaced so it can serve as public parking for downtown, Price said. Also, the city added the same type of decorative street lights that have been added to other downtown areas. Still to come is the construction of a special dumpster enclosure and the striping of the parking lot. The entire project has stayed under its original budget of $157,000, Price said. As for future improvements, Price said decorative trash receptacles are one thing shes looking at. Another possibility is a permanent sign to spread the word about special community events.
