Bad Links? | New community to break ground TuesdayGroundbreaking for a new concept at the site of the former Boat Rock Public Housing community is September 28 at 5800 Boat Rock Road, Atlanta. West Chase at Sandtown will offer a quality mixed-income residential community with a range of housing types---apartments, townhouses and single family homes. Among the 10:30 a.m. ceremonys participants will be District 7 Commissioner William Bill Edwards and Dave Dixon, development partner for NorSouth Companies, the collaborating firm for the project. This revitalization comes under the Housing Authority of Fulton Countys master plan to use a $100 million Hope VI grant from Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to redevelop the former Boat Rock and Red Oak Public Housing communities into true live-work-play mixed income communities for working families in South Fulton County. Were thrilled to get started on the old Boat Rock site, said outgoing HAFC Executive Director Bettye Davis, who spearheaded the development plan. I am a firm believer that every person deserves a clean, safe, and beautiful environment to call home. For over 30 years, the Housing Authority of Fulton County has provided and advocated affordable housing for low Ð and moderate-income citizens in unincorporated Fulton County. |
