Seniors get a close look at local service uniforms

Jean Turner of East Point checks out a defense shield with the help of James Weinmann, East Point Police Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team member, following a “Fashion Show of Uniforms” at the H.J.C. Bowden Senior Multipurpose Facility recently.

Workers from many walks of uniformed life --- East Point, Atlanta and Fulton County police officers and firefighters; UPS truck drivers and others ---- paraded down the aisle so seniors could get a close look at their official clothing and be able to spot impersonators in their neighborhoods.

The show was co-sponsored by the Tri-Cities Seniors And Law Enforcement Together (S.A.L.T.)/Triad, and the East Point Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC) Coalition’s “There’s No Place Like Home” program, which includes the Fulton County Human Services Department’s Office of Aging, Atlanta Regional Commission, City of East Point, Community Housing Resource Center, Council on Aging, Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, and Visiting Nurse Health System.
