Bad Links? | Christs Church announces promotion of worship pastorMichael Plank, formerly the worship minister at Christs Church at Whitewater, was recently promoted to associate minister. Plank, 33, joined the staff at Christs Church (then Kenwood Christian Church) in 1991 for a youth ministry internship under the direction of senior pastor Paul Carrier and youth/associate minister Paul Leslie. He became the full-time youth minister in June 1993 after Paul Leslie accepted the call as senior minister at McDonough Christian Church. In his role as associate minister, Plank will coordinate new member involvement, direct new and current members into ministry opportunities, and organize or restart new ministries and programs within the church. He will continue to oversee the worship and fine arts ministries which include choir, orchestra, drama, dance, and visual arts. Michael has many God-given gifts and talents, said senior minister Kenny White. He is a great worship leader, musician, and recruiter and trainer of people. Plank is also involved as the lead singer in a Christian worship band called Stained Glass Soul as well as a frequent keyboard/vocalist in the Teen Life Mass Band at St. Gabriels Catholic Church in Fayetteville. He received a bachelors degree in Christian ministries and a music ministries minor from Atlanta Christian College in 1992, and an M.A. theology degree with an emphasis in Christian formation/discipleship and cross-cultural studies from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif. in 1998. |
