Bad Links? | CorrectionAn article in the Sept. 15 edition of the Sunday Citizen about the Fayetteville City Council preparing to set its millage rate contained incorrect information. The need for Fayetteville and other governments to re-address the issue was due to a problem in which public utility values were omitted on the tax digest consolidation sheets sent to the various taxing jurisdictions, according to chief appraiser Ellen Mills of the Fayette County Board of Assessors. The article incorrectly blamed a software glitch at the county tax assessors office. Mills said All properties in Fayette County were valued at fair market value in a uniform manner and were submitted to the tax commissioner by July 1, 2004 as required by law. It is the policy of The Citizen to correct errors of fact upon notification. |
