Bad Links? | Holiday Helpers needs volunteers and spaceRecently a concerned group of citizens joined forces to fill a new need in Fayette County. In years past DFCS has provide Christmas gifts and meals to needy families in Fayette County. This year DFCS is unable to coordinate the entire project, but will lend support.ÊThus, a group of leaders from various ministries and organizations has come together to provide Christmas for families in need.ÊVolunteers represent the following organizations: Agape Faith Church, Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, DFCS, Fayette Samaritans, Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Association for Village Pride. Our citizens are so generous, we are confident that the Fayette community will rise to the occasion and make Christmas bright for countless families, said Nikki Rach, Fayette County Holiday Helpers program director. Last year over 520 families were served by the holiday program. This year the Fayette County Holiday Helpers hope to reach over 600 families in need.ÊAt this time volunteers with administrative skills are needed to serve on four different taskforces:Ê Volunteer Taskforce to secure, train, and schedule volunteers; Donations Taskforce to work with returning and new donors to help the families; Distribution Taskforce to oversee the distribution of the gifts to the families in need; and the Communication Taskforce to handle all correspondence with the community, donors and families.ÊIf you possess administrative skills and wish to aid in this worthy cause, please call Nikki Rach at Christ Our Shepherd at 770-487-8717. Finally a warehouse to store the donated items is needed from mid November until January 2005.ÊIf a business has warehouse space, please contact Nikki Rach. Ê |
