Bad Links? | Wyndham hotel soldBy JOHN THOMPSON One of Peachtree Citys oldest hotels has a new owner. According to published reports in the Baltimore Business Journal, Annapolis, Md.-based Thayer Lodging is purchasing the Wyndham Peachtree Hotel and Conference Center as part of a nearly $70 million sale. Thayer is also purchasing three other Wyndham properties in Illinois, Colorado and Florida. The Wyndham in Peachtree City was built in the mid-1980s and was first a Sheraton property. It was the first major hotel built in the county and has been the host to major events, including Chamber of Commerce banquets over the years. Reports indicate the deal is supposed to close in October and Thayer plans to renovate all four newly-acquired properties. Since the beginning of the year, Wyndham has sold nearly $500 million in properties as part of a plan to reduce debt. Officials in Peachtree City could not comment on the proposed sale by presstime. |
