Bad Links? | Taste of Newnan applications being acceptedMain Street Newnan is currently accepting applications for the fall Taste of Newnan and Great Wings Cook-off Oct. 7 from 5-8:30 p.m. in downtown Newnan. Applications to participate can be obtained from Linda Bridges-Kee, the City of Newnan Business Development and Main Street Director, at lbridges@cityofnewnan.org or 770-253-8283. Also, applications are available at www.ci.newnan.ga.us. Participants are not required to serve wings. The event will kick off the Bike Ride Across Georgia (BRAG) weekend. Anyone is eligible to participate. The entry fee is $25 for a non-Main Street Newnan member or is free for a Main Street member. Applications are due to the Main Street office by Oct. 1. Applications are also being accepted for the Annual Main Street Christmas Parade. There is no cost to enter and all groups are welcome. The parade is Dec. 5 at 3 p.m. through downtown Newnan. The theme for the parade is Christmas Around The World. Floats will meet at O.P. Evans Middle School, and walking units will be lining up at the Temple Avenue Park. Furthermore, cars will be staged along Jackson Street. Applications for participation in the parade may be obtained by contacting Bridges-Kee or on the citys Web site. This application needs to be returned to Main Street no later than Nov. 15. Anyone who has been to a Taste of Newnan knows that the event is a lot of fun. They seem to get bigger and better each time. We always have a good time, and the event always draws a crowd. We are making preparations for the Oct. 7 Taste of Newnan, and for anyone who wants to participate, applications are now available by contacting the Main Street Office. Also, the Christmas Parade is always a local favorite. Again, any group can participate by calling the Main Street office. We are looking forward to both of these events, and I encourage everyone to get involved, said Bridges-Kee. |
