Bad Links? | Workshops set to review Comprehensive PlanThe City of Newnan Planning and Zoning Department is preparing to write the 2006-2026 Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan is used as a guide for future development in the city of Newnan and contains information about many aspects of the city including transportation, housing, land use, population, economic development, community facilities, natural and historic resources, intergovernmental relations, and capital improvements. Planners are calling the 2006 Comprehensive Plan New People, New Places, Newnan, Georgia Ð Where Tradition Meets the Future. The planners need to know what the citizens of Newnan want their city look like in the coming years. As a citizen, what is important to you? Would you like to see more parks? Do you desire transportation improvements? How can the city service you better? Whats your biggest concern about the city? How do you feel about the growth of the community? Please bring your opinions to a public workshop and share your thoughts with the city of Newnan planners. The more feedback the planners receive, the better the plan will be. Everyone has a voice. Please be heard. The five workshops are Sept. 21 from 7-9 p.m. at the Central Education Center; Sept. 23 from 6-8 p.m. at Jefferson Parkway Elementary School; Sept. 30 from 6-8 p.m. at Atkinson Elementary; Oct. 5 from 7-9 p.m. at the Performing and Visual Arts Center; and Nov. 2 from 6-8 p.m. at Elm Street Elementary School. We are holding workshops at different locations throughout the city in order to reach people in their own neighborhood. We really want to hear from as many people as possible about their hopes and dreams for Newnan in the coming years. This Comprehensive Plan is our roadmap, and wed like to include as much information from our citizens as possible, said Ryan Libke, Director of Planning and Zoning. For questions or comments, please contact the Planning and Zoning Department at 770-254-2354.
