Offshoot Announces Fall Acting Workshops for Adults, Teens and Children
Offshoot Productions, the Southside's longest-running professional theatre company, will offer four diverse workshops this fall in conjunction with its presentation of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Each session is taught by a team of cast and staff members.
The first three workshops are open to adults and teens 14 and up.
On October 3, from 2 to 5 p.m., participants will explore "Performing Ensemble Comedy." The workshop, which costs $30, uses improvisational techniques for building a group approach to comedic materials and working with audience participation.
The following Sunday, October 10, "Tools of the Trade: The Actor's Body" will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Three instructors will take turns exploring different aspects of physical expression on stage, from combat to blocking. The registration fee is $40 for this workshop.
The third workshop, "Tools of the Trade: The Versatile Voice" takes place October 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vocal concerns ranging from projection to characterization will be covered by several instructors using scripted materials and improvisation. The cost is $30.
In addition, youngsters aged 7 to 13 will enjoy "Making Your Character Come Alive" October 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. This workshop, which costs $20, does not require previous experience.
All workshops are held at the Fayette Family YMCA, 215, Huiet Road, Fayetteville, GA 30215. Advanced registration is strongly encouraged, as workshop size is limited to guarantee individual attention to each participant.
