Whitewater snaps losing streak

The Whitewater Lady Wildcats varsity softball team improved their region record to 3-3 with a win over Douglas County after tough losses to Northgate and Chapel Hill.

Whitewater fell to Northgate 1-0 in eight innings and then followed it with another heartbreaking extra-inning loss to Chapel Hill, 4-3 in nine innings. The Lady Wildacts defeated Douglas County 6-1 and got RBIs from Meg Holman, who went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored and Lauren Moyer, who was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Moyeris hitting .529 and had two RBIs in the Chapel Hill loss. Tess Echols is also hitting well with a .348 average.

“We are playing great softball but are struggling a bit with finishing tight games,” said Coach Stacey Smith. “I could not be more pleased with our hitting and defense, but our hitting is lacking some pizazz.”

Whitewater is off until next Wednesday, when they will host Villa Rica at 4:30 p.m.
