Waking up in late September makes me really happy. The warm, moist air weve been used to for three months is starting to give way to cooler breezes.
People who have avoided going out for weeks because of the stifling humidity now seem to have a spring in their step.
Fall usually means new restaurant openings, and Fayetteville residents will have several new dining options this season.
Zaxbys opened its north Fayetteville location this week. The chain specializes in delicious chicken fingers and is a cut above most fast food establishments. The company also plans to open one just south of the Fayette County Courthouse later this fall.
O Charleys will open its first Fayette location at the end of October. The chain will become part of Restaurant Row just south of the Fayette pavilion. This new development, a smaller version of the already popular OCharleys building, will have 5,130 square feet with seating for 187 guests. This prototype, the first of its kind for OCharleys, has been developed to serve smaller communities which OCharleys has not been able to access previously. Steaks, ribs and prime rib have long been OCharleys favorites. OCharleys choice beef is carefully selected, then aged three to six weeks in OCharleys meat lockers to allow flavor and tenderness to reach their peak. A wide-selection of hand-trimmed cuts, including choice sirloin, ribeye and filet mignon, are offered. Prime rib, an OCharleys specialty dating back to its first restaurant, is slow cooked in special ovens to ensure that each cut is tender and juicy.Featured on the dessert menu is OCharleys famous caramel pie, a graham cracker crust filled with creamy caramel topped with whipped cream, chocolate chips and pecans. In addition to being popular for lunch and dinner, OCharleys serves Sunday brunch, including steak and eggs, waffles and omelets.
Other restaurants that have recently opened include Chutney in Fayetteville, which serves Indian food, and the Georgia Shrimp Company in Peachtree City. I hear the Shrimp Company is excellent and plan to do a full review on it next month.
The new options are helping to enhance the reputation of Fayette as a dining destination on the Southside. Now, if we only had a dim sum place to head to on the weekends ...
