Bad Links? | South Fulton Farm Bureau to host health fairThe South Fulton County Farm Bureau is teaming up with Life Line Screening to offer preventive vascular disease tests during a health fair to be held Sept. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Palmetto Neighborhood Senior Center. The health fair is open to the public. Screening tests for stroke, abdominal aortic aneurysm and peripheral arterial disease will be available at a cost of $45 each. The complete vascular package which consists of all three tests costs $99. An osteoporosis screening test is available for $35, ordering all four tests will cost $125. Pre-registration is required. Early registration is recommended as test times will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis. To schedule a test call 1-800-772-8260. Stroke is Americas third leading killer. It is also the number one cause for nursing home admissions. Unfortunately, half of all stroke victims have no warning signs before a stroke occurs, said Peggie Earnest, Chairman of the South Fulton County Farm Bureau Womens Committee. Were organizing this health fair to help residents of South Fulton County detect any potential for vascular diseases they might have. Any one unable to reserve an appointment for a test because appointment times are unavailable is encouraged to contact the South Fulton County Farm Bureau so they can determine if there is a need to hold a second health fair.
